Experience and create pottery together

Building with your hands

Dear parents and visitors,

On a total of four Fridays in November and December, the Kinderland Muldental foreign language daycare center hosted an inspiring, creative, and artistic pottery workshop in collaboration with Änne Tantow's pottery studio.
On two Fridays, the children were able to give free rein to their imagination with clay under professional guidance. On the last two Fridays, the children painted their finished fired pottery works of art.

It was very important to us to give the children the opportunity to learn about a traditional craft. They were able to use this craft to make creative, decorative, useful, and practical items.
In this context, we wanted to work with the children to learn about different design tools used in pottery, such as clay, various pottery tools, the potter's wheel, and colors with the corresponding painting techniques.

Our after-school care children in grades 1–4 learned to express their creativity through this project. They were also able to further develop their fine motor skills by trying out various traditional handicraft techniques, such as the thumb pressure technique. Under systematic guidance in working with clay, the children's sensory perception was also trained.

The children were able to design, shape, and paint. All of their senses were engaged and utilized. They also trained their endurance and concentration. In addition, the children's social interaction with each other was strengthened.
All in all, it was an ideal artistic opportunity for our children.

We would like to express our sincere thanks to Kulturraum Vogtland – Zwickau for the opportunity to participate in the Impuls Kleinprojekte program.
The project for our after-school care children was funded by Kulturraum Vogtland – Zwickau. This grant made this program possible for our after-school care children in the first place. We are very proud of our artists!

Best regards
