Dear parents and visitors,

Our after-school children had a great program during the summer vacations.

A highlight for our children was the trip to the climbing hall in Chemnitz. After a few warm-up exercises, the children were familiarized with the equipment and the rules. We learned the most important terms in climbing: to, up and down. They were then able to climb the walls on their own
and show their courage at daring heights.
Teamwork was also required. Because the person climbing the wall is secured by their partner on the ground. This day also came to an end with a noisy and fun time in the ball pool in the bouldering hall.

Our children learned lots of new things during the children's yoga session on the
topic of emotional storms. Our everyday lives can often be dominated by fixed
structures, tight schedules and lots of information coming at us. We wanted to give the children the opportunity to calm down and consciously perceive and feel their daily feelings under professional guidance with the topic of "emotional storms". Joy, balance, relaxation and calm - but also anger, frustration and rage: all of these feelings are present in our daily activities. The children found it exciting and new at the same time to deal with their feelings. For many, it was an unfamiliar and instructive experience.

Ever heard of technology and crafts? This was the question our after-school children asked themselves when the employees of Vector Point e.V. from Taura visited us. Vector Point e.V. has a hands-on workshop in Taura for all interested schoolchildren. Our children worked independently under the guidance of the technicians to make a spinning top out of wood. They sanded, operated the drill and painted their spinning tops using a designer machine. Each child also made their own wooden key ring. To do this, the children were allowed to choose different motifs with the help of the PC. These were then sent from the PC to the printer, which then printed the individual pieces on wood. The children were enthusiastic and very happy to be able to work with their hands. A 3D printer to look at rounded off the offer.

The Phänomobil from
Stollberg provided us with a scientific experience. All the young and old explorers were there. Various
exhibitions and exhibits were set up, which the children were allowed to explore independently. There were lots of interesting activities to touch, participate in and explore. We also held a workshop with the children on the scientific topic of magnetism and learned about many general laws of physics. The interactive learning and adventure world at Phänomenia in Stollberg is a highly recommended excursion destination for children and adults of all ages. A wide variety of topics can be explored: from optics, mechanics, water and air to our senses, mathematics, vibrations and space.
There is also a fairytale exhibition. The fairy tale puzzle takes many adults back to their childhood.

During the summer vacations, we also visited our Ilona in the Brückencafé Wolkenburg, who had prepared a great craft idea. With a lot of joy and creativity, the children made a glass of lights with a summery look. She then treated us to a delicious lunch. As a surprise, there was also a small ice cream for everyone.

Our after-school children enjoyed a cultural activity at the Natural History Cabinet Museum in Waldenburg. The children made their own little herbal pharmacy from a clay pot and planted it with various herbs, e.g. mint, lemon balm or thyme. There was also a small exhibition on the functions of the individual herbs. We learned that peppermint grows in mountain meadows, on the edges of forests and in gardens and can help with stomach ailments or colds. We thought it was so great that we also took part in the second project, the color workshop - plant imprint.
Here we learned how people used to make dyes. For example, plants such as spinach, herbs and curry were used as colorants in the past. We had two eventful days at the Natural History Cabinet in Waldenburg.

In the last week of the vacations, we visited the local fire department in Wolkenburg. There, the children were able to feel like real firefighters by trying on the fireproof clothing, looking at the emergency vehicle and trying out the rescue boat. The men and women in the fire department are our friends and helpers. They come to the rescue when there is a fire, when streets are flooded, when a tree has fallen due to a storm and much more. We are very grateful that the fire department exists.
Finally, we enjoyed a delicious barbecue buffet together.

The last day of the summer vacation brought us smiling sunshine.
Of course, we couldn't miss out on a trip to the Rußdorf summer pool. The children splashed around, slid and jumped off the diving board. The children especially enjoyed ice cream and chips.
It was a wonderful day.

Of course, there were many other excursions in our vacation program, e.g. to the Köbe in Penig or to the Wetzelmühle in Niederfrohna.
We were also delighted to welcome Tobias Lange from STÄRKEN ERLEBEN. He conducted the breakdancing and magic workshops with us. We learned an important sentence from him. Instead of saying: "I can't do it", we want to say in future: "I'll give myself the time to practise / learn things".
